Development and Planning for the District of Tumbler Ridge is coordinated through an interdepartmental partnership of Community Development and Public Works. The overarching objective of this District function is to help facilitate and guide the physical growth of Tumbler Ridge for the long-term well being of the community by striving for a balance between its social, economic and environmental needs.
This is done by:
- Advising District Council on policies which guide physical growth and change in the community
- Coordinating the development, implementation and update of key guidance documents such as the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw
- Facilitating the sale of municipally-owned land for both commercial and residential development
- Permitting for construction and development procedures such as subdivisions, zoning amendments, variances and temporary commercial uses
