As of 9:00 pm Wednesday (July 16) night, the Mount McAllister Fire was approximately 3 kilometers from the power transmission line which provides power for Tumbler Ridge. According to Wildfire Management Branch, the types of fuels between the current fire front and the transmission lines are less volatile than some of the other fuels that have been burning, so at this time (10:00 Thursday morning), there is a decreased likelihood of a power outage. It is important to remember, however, that fire conditions can change quickly and so residents should always be prepared for a potential power interruption.
