District of Tumbler Ridge - Lasting Impressions

Tumbler Ridge was founded in the early 80’s as a mining community and has developed into a world class destination for eco-tourism. It also became home to the 2nd  UNESCO Global Geopark in North America on September 23rd, 2014 . It has an amazing diversity of outstanding and accessible mountain geology, extraordinary waterfalls, breathtaking scenery and dinosaur fossils. Tumbler Ridge offers a unique experience for people of all ages.

At nearly 90,000 square feet, the exceptional Tumbler Ridge Community Center has so much to offer! It consists of an aquatic centre with a tots pool, sauna, hot tub and steam room, an 85' x 200' arena, indoor playground, gym, museum, art gallery, curling rink, squash and raquetball courts, public library and a restaurant that overlooks the arena. The Community Centre is also home to the District sponsored Youth Centre, a safe place for young people in grades 5-12. Inside the Youth Centre there is a rock climbing wall that is also available to be rented out to the public.

The volunteer-run TRMF was founded in 2002. The Dinosaur Discovery Gallery was opened in 2007 and showcases the region’s remarkable palaeontological history! It also offers a Dinosaur Camp - the only camp of its kind in British Columbia - where you take field trips to fossil sites of Cretaceous age and older, take part in Dinosaur excavation exercises and enjoy fascinating lectures and field activities with real palaeontologists.
